Paula Hedley

Paula Hedley has always had a passion for languages so a career in translation was simply the next logical step. After winning a German phrase book on a school trip to the River Mosel at the age of 12 she started teaching herself the basics. She went on to study Modern Languages and Area Studies at Northumbria University. The second year of her degree was spent studying at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, which only reaffirmed her decision to pursue a life in Germany.

After graduating in 2004, Paula worked in Mallorca and travelled around Europe with a backpack before permanently relocating to Cologne to work for a PR agency for fashion and advertising photography. 

She soon became a self-employed translator and with a focus on the fashion, culture and lifestyle sectors has accumulated a number of noteworthy clients over the years including: J'N'C Magazin, GoSee, BOOKLET Magazine, Style and the family tunes Magazin, Bread & Butter, Bright Magazine, Serviceplan, TWELVE, Neonyt, Panorama Cosmos, Roland Hoffmann PR, Bikini Berlin, Press Factory, Amateur Magazin, hidden cologne, Tomorrow, Raffaello Rossi, Gmund Paper, KERN.Consulting, Positive Propaganda, J'N'C News, TM MEN, Green Knowledge and many more. 

After living in Cologne for 18 years, three years ago Paula moved to the mountainous Allgäu region in Bavaria, not far from the border to Austria. She comes from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is also able to offer translations from Geordie to English upon request! She dreams of one day being able to translate from a house with sea views, as long as it has a fast Wi-Fi connection!
